About health examination items
- ○The Company’s health exams involve both periodic health exams that companies are required by law to provide (statutory examination items) and optional health exams provided by the Health Insurance Society, centered on cancer screening (non-statutory examination items), both undertaken on the same day.
- ○The Health Insurance Society conducts health exams jointly with the Company. Data on the results of Company health exams are used jointly to maintain and improve the health of society members and to promote effective health activities. See “Joint use of personal information” for more information.
- ○Exams for statutory items are mandatory. If you have yet to be examined for statutory items, you are required to be examined for the necessary items at a later date. Refer to the guide sent to your home address in early March for more information.
- ○If you would like to be examined for optional items, apply when making your appointment. You cannot apply for these items on the day of the examination.
- ○Women who are currently pregnant cannot undergo chest X-rays, chest CT scans, stomach X-rays, or mammography exams.
- ○Copayments: Copayments will be charged for chest CT scans. Copayments will be deducted from your salary about three months after the examination as health examination copayments.
- ○Please make an appointment as soon as possible when you have a gastric endoscopy.
- ○Gastric endoscopy exams: These health exams exclude tests such as polyp biopsies and Helicobacter pylori tests. They are restricted to visually examining the gastric region using an endoscope. Bring your health insurance card with you if you want to undergo these exams: you will be charged a copayment. Certain medical care institutions may conduct preliminary exams (including tests for infectious disease) a few days before a gastric endoscopy or on the same day. For more information, check with the medical care institution where you will be examined. (Costs of preliminary exams are included in health examination costs.)
Information about health examination results
Review your health examination results as soon as they arrived to ensure early discovery and prevention of irregularities and to improve living habits.
Ensuring mental and physical health of each employee, based on the idea of personal responsibility for one’s own health
◆Be sure to undergo any exams as instructed
If you have been informed of the need for treatment, a follow-up examination, or a detailed examination, be sure to promptly request an examination or treatment by a medical care institution. Do not simply assume that there is no problem or delay or forgo medical care because you are busy.
* Try to visit the same physician at regular intervals.
◆Subjective symptoms are warning signs from your body
Health exams cannot detect all health conditions. Even if your health examination results identified no specific issues, get examined by a medical care institution if you notice any subjective symptoms.
◆Our bodies are constantly changing
Health exam results that indicate no concerns are no guarantee that you will not get sick in the future. They reflect only your condition at the time of the examination. Don’t rely heavily on good results. Try to live a healthy life at all times.
* Health exam results will be sent directly to the examinee’s home address in the format employed by the medical care institution where the exam was administered.
If your exam results indicate that you [need treatment], [need a follow-up examination], or [need a detailed examination]
Get examined promptly for any issues identified in health exams by the following or similar methods:
- Get examined by your regular physician
To maintain good health, we recommend visiting the same physician at regular intervals. - Get examined by the institution where you received the health examination
Make an appointment for an examination at the medical care institution where you received the health examination. If that examining institution cannot provide the examination or treatment you need, ask the institution for referral to an appropriate specialist - Get examined at a nearby medical care institution
